Bandwidth theft occurs when external websites use the <img /> tag to display images from your site, ultimately siphoning your resources. Whilst you have the benefit of unlimited bandwidth with us, done to excess, this could cause your site to run slower than it should.
Prevent this by enabling Hotlink Protection:
- Access your cPanel account.
- Under the ‘Security’ section, select the ‘HotLink Protection’ icon.
- If it’s currently disabled, click ‘Enable.’
- To Configure Hotlink Protection:
In ‘URLs to allow access,’ specify which websites (external or your own) should have access. For instance, if you have a subdomain like demo.example.com, add its URL to the allowed list to prevent bandwidth theft.
