The process for transferring a domain to another registrar depends on the domain’s extension. Follow the instructions below based on your domain type:
For .uk Domains (.co.uk/.org.uk/.me.uk, etc):
- Obtain the IPS tag of the new registrar you’re moving to. You can usually find this on the new registrar’s website or by contacting them directly.
- Log in to your Hostingly Client Area and select “Domains” > “My Domains” from the left-hand menu or click the “My Domains” button.
- Find the domain you want to transfer and click on the domain name or the “Manage Domain” button.
- On the Domain Details page, click the “Release Domain” tab.
- Enter the new registrar’s IPS tag in the provided box.
- Read the “Important!” notice, understand it, and tick the checkbox. Note that this action is irreversible.
- Click the “Release Domain” button to complete the release process.
- Follow the steps provided by your new registrar to finalise the domain transfer.
For .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .us, and other Domains:
- Log in to your Hostingly Client Area and select “Domains” > “My Domains” from the left-hand menu or click the “My Domains” button.
- Find the domain you wish to transfer and click on the domain name or the “Manage Domain” button.
- Click “Contact Information” in the right-hand menu and ensure the domain’s contact information is correct, especially the Admin contact email address. Changing this information can lock the domain for 60 days.
- Unlock the domain. Click “Registrar Lock” in the right-hand menu and then click “Disable Registrar Lock.”
- Click “Get EPP Code.” The domain must be unlocked to obtain the EPP code.
- Depending on your registrar, you will either see the EPP code on-screen or receive it at the Admin Contact email address within 24 hours.
- Check your spam/junk folders if you don’t receive the EPP code. Whitelist messages from “transfer-approval.com” if needed.
- If you still don’t receive the EPP code, raise a Support Request within your Hostingly Client Area.
- Follow your new registrar’s instructions for transferring in the domain, providing the EPP code as required.
- Domain transfers can take up to five days to complete.
By following these steps, you can successfully transfer your domain away from Hostingly to another registrar.
